The vision of the JEP is: " JEP believes that young people have the inherent right to contribute to and be nurtured by South African society. JEP seeks to achieve a society which recognises and responds to the full range of needs and gifts of young men and women."

The advocacy unit will strive to influence policy makers and programme developers to develop policy and programmes that will result in increased oppurtunity for young people.

JEP recognises that a fair amount of work has been done to address the needs of young people. JEP sees its role as that of ensuring that the resources that have been allocated for youth programmes are used to provide maximum benefit to young people.
